Iker Casillas’ 25-year stay at Real Madrid is coming to an end

After weeks of speculation, Marca have confirmed on Wednesday afternoon that Porto and Real Madrid have reached agreement on the transfer of Iker Casillas.

The legendary Spanish goalie will move to Porto, opening the way up for Real Madrid to close their move for Manchester United keeper David De Gea.

Marca add that the official announcement confirming Casillas’ move will come in the next few hours.

Real Madrid will then pay their respects to the Spanish goalkeeper with a farewell ceremony at the Bernabeu on Friday.

For Casillas, moving to Porto makes sense. The Portuguese side are just 40 minutes plane ride from Madrid and guarantee Champions League football.

And, whilst its a major coup for Porto, questions have to be asked of Real Madrid and why their club legends never finish their career at the Bernabeu.
