Mane, Salah ranked as more valuable than Messi in transfer market

Lionel Messi is regarded by many as the most talented footballer on the planet – but the Barcelona superstar is less valuable than Liverpool duo Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

According to the CIES Football Observatory, Messi is now only the eighth-most expensive player in the world.

The data experts have come up with a list of world football’s 10 most valuable stars, taking a range of factors such as age, contract duration and position into account.

Their most unsurprising result comes in the first place, with Paris St-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe valued at a whopping £226m.

England and Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling is in the second spot, only £36m behind Mbappe on a figure of £190m.

He is not the only Premier League star to feature in the list, as Liverpool attackers Salah and Mane also sit above Messi in third and fifth place respectively.

Salah sits behind Sterling in the second spot on £149m, while Mane is reportedly worth £132m.

Sandwiched by the Reds pair is Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho, who is being heavily linked with a move to Chelsea in the January transfer window.

If the Blues want to get their hands on him, then, CIES Football Observatory believes they will have to fork out at least £144m, Daily Star reports.
